Hi Everyone, I believe there are many Malaysians out there who wish to have their own business. Well, you can start off by trying selling on Internet. Starting an Online Business is not as hard as you think.
Here are a few sites where you can try:-
1) Ebay.com.my - It's free and one of the best place to sell online. Unlike the Ebay.com, this website does not requires you to pay any percentage of sales to them. This is still a website from the US company, Ebay. You may also accept Paypal for payment.
2) Lelong.com.my - This website is more popular than Ebay in Malaysia. It started off pretty small, but eventually grow and started to get a lot of businesses opening their own stores within the site. However, the design of the site is not as clean as the rest.It is some how still cluttered looking although after so many years of evolution.
3) Mudah.my - This is an everyday shopping site for most Malaysians. You can really find almost anything in this website. Listing an item is also much easier as it does not need you to start any account with them. However, all listing will be vetted through by their staff to ensure they are legitimate.
4) JBTalk - This is basically a forum. But don't be surprise as this forum attracts lots of Malaysian Chinese fans. With the large base of forum users, it actually turns one of its threads discussion into a market place, where users can buy and sell items. I think this applies to the followings as well, but this is particularly for Chinese readers.
5) Lowyat.net - This forum was started by a bunch of Techies. Over the years, it have been able to gain a large number of followers and soon become fans as well. You can see people wearing lowyat.net T-shirt and windshield with their car stickers as well. They even started their own online store websites like StoreKini, mainly selling IT stuff.
In the forum, a lot of lowyatian (forumers) have started their businesses. You may even see their sales history as well.
In a nut shell, try to find websites which offers free listing and forums that have large base of users.
Besides the above, try selling on Facebook by creating a page. Promote your page through family and friends to start off your business on Facebook. Try to organize contest and give out prizes to winners. This have proven to be working very well.
Instagram is another app you can make use to sell as well. Shoot products photos and put the price of the item in the same photo. Hash tag your product accordingly to ensure more people can see you picture.
